Meet The Concord Flower Shop Staff

What does it mean to be a local, independent, small business? Among other things, it's how you treat your employees. So before you meet them below, read about The Concord Flower Shop's approach and why it merited the cover story in the key floral industry trade magazine.

Helen, a recognized expert florist, has owned the Shop with her husband, Dave, for 25 years. Helen greatly enjoys helping customers, brides and corporate clients and is happily kept busy with event planning, running the workshops, designing bouquets and managing all the countless things that keep a local, independent floral shop running smoothly. Helen is a Concord native who raised her two daughters in Acton, Ma and is very excited to have recently paid her last college tuition bill! Her favorite flowers include Lilac, Lily of the Valley and Lisianthus.

Daisy has been helping at daughter Helen’s shop for almost 20 years now. She comes in once a week to spruce up displays, chat with the customers, water plants and anything else that needs doing. At 83 years young, she is an inspiration to us all! Her favorite flowers are Daisies, of course, Marigolds and Zinnias.

Kathleen has been a floral designer at the Concord Flower Shop for 23 years and has a degree from U Mass Amherst in Botany. She is also a recent empty nester with a daughter attending Skidmore College. If you have a question about plant care she's the one to ask and with her floral design experience, you can also count on her to make you a stunning bouquet for any occasion. A few of her favorite flowers are Sweet Pea, Freesia and Peonies.

Julie is a recent graduate of Rittner’s school of Floral Design in Boston and has been part of our flower shop family for 3 years. As the youngest member of our team she brings her youthful enthusiasm to everything she does. In addition to her skill as a designer, she is a favorite with our customers due to her cheerful personality and helpful suggestions. Some of her favorite flowers include Callas, Orchids, and Ranunculus.

Mike comes to us in his retirement as a school Guidance Counselor. He has worked here as a driver for the past three years delivering beautiful plants and flowers. Always ready with a smile and a friendly word, you’ll be happy to open your door to him when he rings the bell. His favorite flowers are Alstromeria, Roses and Snapdragons.

Riley has been our shop dog for the past 4 years. A Recue Boxer from The Derry N.H. Humane Society, he is trying hard to live up to his predecessor, Pearl. He’s spends most of his time sleeping under the design table or begging for treats from his favorite people. (You know who you are!) His favorite flowers are any that fall on the floor, but truthfully, he prefers Milkbones.
