Summer Weddings

Posted by Helen Halloran on Jun 24th 2016

One of the best things about summer weddings in New England is the ability to use locally grown flowers. Most of the year flowers are imported or greenhouse grown, so as floral designers we really love a chance to pick flowers at area farms for our brides. We can use locally grown flowers starting the end of June through September, unless we get an early frost.

Sometimes we get requests from bride's to use flowers from their gardens. Unfortunately that rarely works out unless she has a  huge garden. Weather can really ruin a crop you are counting on so it's best to have a back up plan. Most of the bigger farms around here plant in stages also, so there's always something in bloom. But, for the home gardener, a drought or severe rain storm at the wrong time can be devastating if you are counting on them for your wedding. We usually recommend letting us get the flowers needed and if your garden is at the right stage  you can always have us add some more of those flowers to everything for a fuller look.

Check out some of these summery wedding bouquets we've done in the past. Whether you like bright vibrant colors or softer pastels, trendy or traditional, extravagant or simple, it's always a good idea to trust a professional florist to bring your ideas to life.
